Kristen Roth was waiting in line at the Spotsylvania Towne Centre Starbucks when she noticed the two teenage girls staring at her.
She quickly thumbed through a mental checklist: Had she done something wrong? Had she committed a fashion faux pas? Had she somehow insulted one of the girls?
Then one of them walked up to Kristen with a grin on her face and asked, "Aren't you in that Miley Cyrus singing contest?"
"That made my day," said the unassuming 15-year-old, who hasn't gotten used to being recognized in public. "I was on cloud nine."
About a year and a half ago, the Spotsylvania teen entered the "Are You A Star?" contest on MileyWorld.com, the fan Web site for teen pop star Miley Cyrus.
Now, she's one of only two performers left in the competition, which drew 8,000 entries from around the world.
Not bad for a kid who's never had a voice lesson.
Online voting in the final round of the competition begins tomorrow at 9 p.m., on MileyCyrus.com. The winner walks away with a recording contract. READ MORE.
